Prices in Kosovo continue to rise even in the first months of this year.

In January 2026, annual inflation reached 5.8%, while that month's 1.2%, reflecting a new wave of growth affecting almost every sector.

According to recent data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK), the annual rate of inflation in January 2026 has reached 5.8%, compared to January 2025, while monthly inflation (compared to December 2025) was 1.2%.

The overall harmonised consumer price index (IHÇK) marked increases due to significant price hikes in several consumer groups, according to the COICOP rating.

In January 2026 / January 2025, the largest price increase is recorded in:

Flight tickets +50.4%

Water supply and municipal services +44.4%

solid fuel (fire wood, diapers, etc) +17.2%

In total, the impact of these rises on IHCK is estimated at +6.2 percent.

On the other hand, the most severe drop in prices has been recorded in fuel and lubricants for personal transport equipment, with -7.3%, which has negatively affected IHCK by about -0.4 percent.

Monthly growth (janary 2026 / December 2025), has largely been influenced by:

Flight tickets +42.1%

Water and municipal services +41.4%

Wood and diapers +4.6%

Perimes +4.2%

However, fuels have again scored -3.4%, affecting about -0.2% in total monthly inflation.

The AKS has stressed that price changes have been reflected in almost all consumer groups, but mostly in transport, food and energy -- categories that have the biggest impact on the family budget.
