Today 18 years ago, the US recognised Kosovo, the embassy mentions the special “connection of friendship”

The American Embassy in Kosovo has recalled that today 18 years ago the United States of America has officially recognised Kosovo, a day after declaring independence. “Today, 18 years ago, the United States has officially recognised Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. “Today, 18 years ago, the United States has officially recognised Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. President Bush responded positively to Kosovo's request to establish diplomatic relations between our two countries”.
The embassy said establishing these relations would reconfirm the specific friendship links that have united the people of the United States and Kosovo”.
Also, the embassy shared a statement by the then State Secretary Condoleza Rice after diplomatic ties were established.
“While Kosovo today begins its life as an independent state, the United States pledge to continue being its friend and close partner”. The Declaration by Secretary Rice, February 18, 2008”, says in the embassy post.
