Among the victims was Hossam al-Masri, an associate of the Reuters agency, who was broadcasting the attack directly when the images were interrupted unexpectedly. Reuters also confirmed that another associate, photograph Hasem Khaled, was left injured.

We are shocked by Hussam al-Masri's loss and are seeking urgent information on the state of Hasem Khaled. We have asked Gaza and Israel authorities to enable medical assistance as soon as possible,” said the agency.

Even Al Jazeera confirmed the murder of her photoreporter, Mohammed Salama, while the NBC lost reporter Moaz Abu Taha.

Among the victims was Mariam Abu Daqa, 33, who was co-operating with the Associated Press and Independent Arabic media. She was a mother of a 12-year-old boy, evacuated by Gaza at the beginning of the war.

Through social networks Abu Daqa had repeatedly documented the reality of the conflict and had recently reported on the efforts of doctors at the Nasser Hospital to save children from hunger.

According to agency AFP, the victim of the attack, was Ahmad Abu Aziz, who worked for Palestinian and international media.

The unions of Palestinian journalists strongly condemned the attack, calling “a new massacre against the press”. Their statement says that the Israeli “has deliberately targeted the free voice and witnesses of the aggression in Gaza, killing journalists who were carrying out their professional duty”, reports La Repubblica.

In addition to the victims, several journalists were injured, among them was Haem Omar (Reuters) and Jamal Badah (Palestine Today).

With these names, the number of journalists and media workers killed in Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli offensive exceeds 244, making this conflict one of the deadliest for journalism profession in modern history.. /Periscopi/
