Google has just lost the right to sell its Google Pixel 7 series after a recent patent dispute with the Korean mobile company Pantech.
According to a decision by a district court in Japan, Google has been found guilty of patent violations related to OTE, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
Pantech filed an indictment against Google, claiming that the technology giant used the same technology described in a Pantech-owned patent.
License relates to modem OTE on Pixel phones communicates with base stations. However, the patent was not licensed on fair terms.
As a result, a court in Tokyo ruled that Pixel 7 phones should be removed from the shelves because Google refused to cooperate.
Google refused to pay a license fee and also refused to provide data on the number of Pixel 7 phones sold in Japan.
The Japanese market is extremely important to Google. In all, Pixel phones are the second best sold in the country, immediately after the iPhone, followed by Samsung and Xiaomi.
Pantech is now pressing a new indictment against Google, this time targeting the newest Pixel 8 and Pixel 9, so they can suffer the same fate if the two companies fail to reach a compromise. /Periscope/
