Three Serbian citizens have been arrested in France in connection with the vandalism of several Jewish countries in Paris over the weekend.
According to Euronews, three synagogues, a Hebrew restaurant and a memorial of the Holocaust, have been stained with green paint on Saturday that went to the historic district of Marais, Paris.
Authorities in Paris have immediately launched the investigation, which they described as damage committed “on religious grounds”, reports Klankosova.tv, broadcast Periscope.
Serbian citizens were arrested in the southeastern Alps-Marietime region, as they were about to leave France.
This act of vandalism has similarities with two other visible anti - Semitic attacks on Jewish countries in Paris in recent years, and authorities have stated there is reason to believe that Russian secret services may also be involved in this case in an effort to provoke tensions in French society.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticised his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, over recent vandalism, saying he must do more to fight anti-Semiism in France.
In recent years, reports of anti - Semitic incidents have increased significantly in France, with a sharp increase in 2023 following Hamas' attacks on October 7th in Israel. /Periscope
