O V L The KLA, note its deep concern over recent developments in The Hague Specialised Chambers, including unjust and humiliating treatment of former KLA leaders who are being held in custody.

The rejection of the ombudsman's visit by Mr. Hashim Thaci, Mr. Thaci. Kadri Vessel, Mr. Rexhep Selimi and Mr. Jakup Krasniqi clearly reflects the level of disappointment and contempt they have experienced against an institution that, in theory, must protect their rights but who has chosen to remain silent in the face of serious wrongdoing. Their attitude is a powerful message that this situation cannot be normalized nor justified.

Moreover, extreme restrictions on meeting with lawyers and arbitrary interventions in preparing legal protection constitute a violation of basic human rights and serious violation of the right to a fair judicial process. As reported in the media, meetings are being organised unexpectedly and in inappropriate conditions, seriously hindering the effective functioning of defence.

These concerns have also been raised by Kosovo's ombudsman, who has publicly stated that keeping in custody and lack of fair decisions for provisional release conflict with international standards for human rights and constitutes undignified treatment.

O V L- KLA calls for:

1. Let the inhuman and degrading treatment of the detainees immediately end.

2. To ensure without delay all their rights, including full and endless access to legal protection.

3. The ombudsman of the Specialised Chambers to take a public stand against violations and not be silently partyed with an unfair system.

4. Be immediately reviewed the detention conditions and seriously considered the possibility of their provisional release.

KLA fighters have not fought for unilateral justice, endless detentions and humiliation in the name of a justice silent in the face of injustice.

True justice begins with respect for human dignity.
