The latter himself was not present at today's appeals session, but was represented by his lawyer, Ermir Beta.
Veliaj called for Apeli to ease the measure of security in prison, while in Durres' custody since 10 February this year.
Veliaj is being investigated by SPAK for passive corruption in 9 episodes and money laundering. He was arrested on the orders of the Special Prosecutor, and since then has repeatedly sought release from custody without success.
Through his lawyers, the mayor has requested a softer security measure, offering as an alternative a property guarantee, without specifying a precise amount, leaving the court's assessment.
Judge Engert Pelumbi, however, ruled the adoption of the move previously imposed on Veliaj with “prison arrest”.
