In April, the Commission fined Apple with 500m euros and Meta 200m euros for disrespect of the Digital Market Act (DMA) and gave both companies 60 days to bring their practices in line with EU regulations.
This grace period ends on June 26th, after which they risk periodic payment of fines, writes Euronews.
According to the spokesman, financial penalties will not be implemented automatically, but only after the Commission conducts a preliminary analysis and shares its findings with the two companies as part of an ongoing exchange process.
It becomes known that Apple was fined 500m euros for preventing developers from leading users to alternative offerings or content outside its platform a move considered contrary to DMA rules.
Meta received a fine of 200m euros for her “hey or consent” model. The model obligates users or gives consent to using their personal data for targeted advertising or to pay for an unannounced subscription by limiting user selection. /Periscope/
