Russia attacks Harkiv as Trump's anger against Putin rises

Russia has carried out a major raid on Ukraine's Harkiv, as Donald Trump's special envoy, Keith Kellogg, said the American president is “is increasingly concerned with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over the delays in reaching a ceasefire that would help end [...]

Oleh Synihubov, head of the Harkiwi region located at the border with Russia, said through a post on Telegram that at least eight people were injured, including two children, from the attack that took place on the morning of May 30th. The chairman of this region, Ior Terekhov, said the attack targeted “a municipal company”, giving no more details.

In recent weeks, Russia has carried out continued attacks as efforts to achieve a ceasefire intensified in order to pave the way for a comprehensive peace plan to end Ukraine's Russian occupation, which began in 2022.

Trump says Putin “is playing fire” following deadly attacks in Ukraine
In April, Ukraine agreed with the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, but Russia has rejected the plan, and many allies of Ukraine have accused Putin of trying to drag the process forward so as to take advantage of the current situation in the battlefield, where Russia has made progress in territories it claims to control.

Most of the disasters are around civil buildings, which Russia claims is not targeting, despite numerous evidence showing otherwise.

His [Trump] appointment is that he has presented several reasonable proposals and made reasonable discussions and he sees a level of unreasonableness [from Putin] that really angers him. It upsets me too”, Callogg said in an interview for ABC News.

Trump, who has made his foreign policy priority achieving a peace agreement, warned on May 28th that he would decide “within two weeks” if Putin is serious about stopping fighting.

Moscow said on 30 May that it would send a team of negotiators to Istanbul on 2 June for a possible second round of direct talks with Ukraine, even though Kiev has not yet confirmed whether it will participate.

Kellogg said during the ABC interview that officials from the US, Germany, France and Britain will be in Istanbul on 2 June, when the meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegation can be held.

Russia has said it will use this meeting to introduce a <x0mormandum”, including conditions for a peace agreement. A senior adviser to Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has stated Kiev is willing to participate in the meeting, but wants to first see Russia's proposals regarding the end of the war.

The Russian delegation could be led by Vladimir Medinsky, Russian politician and former Culture Minister, who led Russia's negotiating team to the first round of direct talks on May 16th. REL
