In an interview for KosovoHe stresses that although the local level is active and organised, the lack of central institutions is slowing down the process.
He calls for quick co-operation not to jeopardise this historic opportunity for Kosovo.
The Mediterranean Games are tomorrow as far as we have time to create the infrastructure needed for the Mediterranean Games. We as the capital have continued with the process, with the drafting of the Olympic Village masterplane for the Mediterranean Games and its detailing, so we are two steps ahead fortunately, but the lack of creating central-level institutions normally that could prevent the rapid development that had to be developed for stadiums, for different spaces, for other arenas for the Mediterranean Games”, Rama says.
The first of the Pristina municipality emphasises that they are in constant communication with the International Committee of Mediterranean Games, informing them of every step being taken in the function of preparations for the prosperity of these games in Kosovo, held after five years.
And even at our meetings that we had with the ICMG [The International Union of Mediterranean Games] we showed them and we gave them confidence, they saw that we are actually ahead of schedules like the capital so that we are in order at the moment, but we should not stop because time is running too fast”, Rama follows.
Seeing that no steps have yet been taken for the construction of the national stadium, Rama suggests that the municipality will build a new, fourth category U stadium The EFA will carry out this function.
“We have proposed and planned and will build the capital stadium, which will have all capacities for the International Games, so it will be in the fourth category of U. EFA that enables all needs for international games. But will it be treated as a national stadium or not, it remains to be seen, but I'm saying that we need a new stadium in the capital that we planned and which we will build”, Rama suggests.
He has spoken of the potential risk of Kosovo losing the right to host the Mediterranean Games, precisely because of delays in building sports infrastructure, saying in no way would allow that to happen.
We, fortunately, have many opportunities as capital to postpone the processes ahead, and we will not allow that [the failure of the Mediterranean Games' organisation] to happen. I'm saying that I wish the government could be formed as soon as possible and in co-operation with the local level, so with the capital, let's postpone the process as soon as possible because the faster the better the better, and the better the better the manageners we will be. There's only one case perhaps in the history of our country, the capital and Kosovo that we are friendly with these wonderful games and we have to do everything to get organized in the best way that we can be the best nurses, because this shows the level of establishing our society at the international level, so I wish the government will be formed as soon as possible and we can postpone the process, because as soon as we can do our jobs that we need then we can even go into the details and have the best international games so far. We aim at this”, Rama says.
Calls for intensifying jobs in preparations for the Mediterranean Games have also been made by the Kosovo Olympic Committee.
To Kosovo, they have said they fear that Kosovo at this pace of affairs may not be ready for the year 2030 to host these games in our country. /Periscope/
