KLA OVL: Warnings of other KLA leaders' sentences are alarm for justice, state

Kosovo's Liberation Army Veterans' Organisation has reacted sharply following recent warnings made public by Jakup Krasniqi's defence team, naming them as a serious and alarming signal to justice and the state of Kosovo itself, Periscopi broadcasts. According to this organisation, defence team statements warning the preparation of other sentences by the Prosecution in The Hague against KLA leaders strengthen the conviction that the judicial process against them is not aimed at clarifying the truth, but at punishing the political punishment of the leaders of the liberation war.
“has become four and a half years since the KLA leaders and members are being held in custody at The Hague, under circumstances that each day more attest the unjust and unilateral character of this process,” is said to be in OVL's response.
Citing sentences against Sali Mustafa and Peter Shala as examples of unfair decisions, the organisation says these processes have been made in the name of justice, but in fact aim to crack down on the legitimacy of the liberation war and undermine Kosovo's citizenship.
The modern-day freedom fighters are men who contributed to the liberation of the country and the establishment of the state of Kosovo. Instead of honouring themselves, they are facing a process more similar to political punishment than international justice, the response follows.
The KLA's OVL stresses that The Court in The Hague is not only aimed at following specific individuals, but, according to it, is trying to undermine the legitimacy of the KLA and through it the citizenship of Kosovo itself.
In the end, the organisation calls on the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo not to remain silent in the face of developments in this process and to take clear steps to defend the truth of the liberation war and to seek real justice.
“institutional issue in these circumstances is unacceptable. It is state and national duty to defend the truth of our war,” said in response.
