Italian soldiers of the Regional Command West (RC-W), part of the NATO-led mission KFOR, have recently developed patrols and surveillance in their area of responsibility in southern Kosovo.
The aim of these patrols is to support security and guarantee freedom of movement for all citizens”.
Through these activities, soldiers have also had the opportunity to engage with the local population and civil authorities, strengthening confidence in the impartial presence of KFOR in the region.
KFOR's “Mission remains unchanged, in line with the mandate given by UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all citizens and communities in Kosovo, as well as to ensure freedom of movement at any time and impartially”, the statement said.
KFOR continues to co-operate closely with the Kosovo Police and the European Union's Mission for Rule of Law (EULEX) in their respective roles as responsible for security on the ground.
