On the 33rd anniversary of the first parliamentary and presidential elections in Kosovo, former close adviser to President Ibrahim Rugova, Muhamet Hamiti, has shared a personal memory from May 24th of 1992, when Kosovo citizens, through their first vote, elected the president of the Republic of Kosovo for the first time.
“With Ibrahim Rugova 33 years ago, on 24 May 1992, in Kosovo's first parliamentary and presidential elections. 867,557 citizens voted Ibrahim Rugova president of the Republic of Kosovo,” wrote Hamiti in a post of reminders.
Today, May 24th, Kosovo marks President's DayA day dedicated to the memory of the historic president and the Founding Father of the state of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova.
