Day of Europe, Rama: Albania closer to EU

May 9th, Europe Day, was also commemorated this year in Albania as a significant moment for the journey towards the European Union. In this case, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that Albania is closer than ever before to the European family, citing progress in membership negotiations:

Today, the European Union confirms Albania's rapid pace of membership in the United European Family and formalises the opening of negotiations on the 3rd Groups on the Cavourability and inclusive growth, announcing the observance of the Fifth Intergovernmental Conference with Albania on 22 May 2025, in Brussels. We have already opened 24 chapters and 11 more remain to be opened, with work and hope within 2025. Nothing and no one will ever stop the European fate of Albanians”, Rama said.

Republika President Bajram Begaj conveyed congratulations messages for Europe Day, underlining Albania's historical and spiritual ties to the European continent: “Today we celebrate the day of Europe, which we belong to geographically and spiritually, with which we share the same values of peace, solidarity, and unity.
