This became known for “The Battle of Justice” through the response of the head of the Office for Information and Communication with Basic Court Media in Pristina, Mirlinda Gashi, broadcasts Periscopi.
According to Gashi, the decision on continuing this move was made 3 April.
“Referenced your request for information, we inform you that following the request of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo for continuing the detention measure in the criminal case against I.P., the Constitutional Court in Pristina ʹ the Special Department by the date 03.04.2025 has taken action and approved the SPRK's request, so that the detention measure of the I.P.P. tribunal has been continued in length of 2 (two) the”, it is said in response.
The defendant allegedly, by his actions, has stirred hatred and inadequacy among religious groups.
“From the evidence provided by the SPRK's permission of police and associated with the request for the detention measure and which evidence is found in the paperwork of this subject, the court estimates and finds that in the concrete case the legal conditions are met because there is doubt that by the date 03.03.25, about 12:10, in Prizren, in the vicinity of Halive's files, he has publicly promoted hatred and patience among religious groups<1>, was said in the first court decision, with which was appointed of 30 days' detention suspects.
I.P., he was said to have torn up the sacred book while the pieces were ripped out on the street by the citizens.
The same “had received the holy book of Muslims, the Qur'an, which it had torn away, so that after citizens observed the fragments torn in the street, the case was presented to the police and, in this case, caused great frustration in the Islamic community and a violation of coexistence between groups with various religious ideologies, with which the order and public tranquillity could be broken, ” was said further on the verdict.
With this, it is allegedly committed to the criminal act “The acceleration of division and failure of” by Article 141, par.l of the Criminal Code.
The suspect was detained on March 4th, with the Special Prosecutor's decision.
