Despite climate changes, they stay in tents day and night and warn they will not withdraw without the demands being met.
The Union's deputy head, Shpend Qosa, in an interview for Online Economy said they are awaiting a crucial meeting with municipal officials, while stressing that the main requirements are oil insurance, wages and stabilisation of the company.
“Today we've entered the ninth day of the strike, we've had a meeting with municipal officials, we're considering our demands even today we're awaiting a meeting. Until we find a solution to our demands. Something concrete we don't have to make a choice, we keep working and we get to work. Those demands we have at the meeting we have discussed, even the municipality has given some of the solutions that we have considered. Today we wait for them at the meeting to reach a deal, our demands are actually having paid oil and stable company conditions. The workers paid for it, say Qosa.
Workers Blerim Hajdini, who has been working at the company for 16 years, said the strike would not stop until the demands are met.
He expressed concern for low wages and personal debts, stressing that the 425-euro monthly salary is insufficient to afford a living.
We are on strike until our demands are met, and our conditions are not intended to stop the strike. I work that 16 years here all have big loans, I have 15 euros of credit, I can't get out because the salary is too small, we have 425 euros in the contract. Our request is to return our debt 100 percent and cut off the private immediately”, he added.
