According to her, the Serbian leadership's goal is to restore the Balkans to the past, while stressing that Kosovo will continue to defend itself and reject any hegemonistic tendency coming from Belgrade.
In an interview for TRT BalkanPresident Osmani has spoken openly about the Declaration for Military Co-operation that Kosovo has signed with Albania and Croatia, stressing that this is a natural step in strengthening Kosovo's defence capacities. She stressed that this long-standing co-operation is now formalised in a trilateral agreement and is in line with NATO standards.
Osmani has also mentioned that Kosovo is negotiating with several other states to expand this co-operation, but has not provided details about possible names.
As for Serbia's response to this agreement, Osman has called it typical and has stressed that Serbia continues to remain the source of instability in the region.
Serbia has acted with acts of aggression and acts of terrorism. Serbia has tried to destroy Bosnia and Herzegovina from within by destabilizing it. Serbia causes problems for Croatia and other countries in the region. So it's very clear to all of us in the Western Balkans who's the only source of instability and that's Serbia”, Osmani said.
She has added that Kosovo will protect its interests and continue to work with NATO partners to ensure regional and global peace and stability.
We will undoubtedly defend ourselves from these hegemonistic and imperialist ideas that have the leadership of Serbia, which aims to bring us back to the years of BAR90s, back to the past. We must look to the future. And the future can be calm and stable only if we can protect ourselves from aggressors like Serbia, which also brings harmful influences to the region from Russia, China and Iran”, it noted.
Kosovo's president has also said that Kosovo and other countries in the region are harmonised with European Union foreign policies and are working closely with NATO partners to contribute to regional and global peace and stability.
The “Kosovo Security Forces are already serving side by side with US forces, Turkey and the United Kingdom on peacekeeping missions worldwide”, Osmani has said, among other things. /Periscope/
