Kosovo has become part of regional exercise FloodNorthAlb's being held at Shkodra.
The Republic of Kosovo is represented in this exercise by Emergency Management Agency, with the operational search-Peace team in the Surface Waterwater, comprised of 17 trained and equipped members for intervention in emergency flood situations.
This important regional exercise is organised under the Interstate Agreement for mutual assistance in cases of natural disasters and other disasters, and is supported by the European Commission”, the Emergency Management Agency reports.
Password “FloodNorthAlb” is aimed at strengthening co-operation and co-ordination among civil protection agencies in cases of floods, through real simulations of emergency situations and activating operational teams on the ground.
In addition to Kosovo and Albania, civil protection agencies from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Italy are participating in the exercise. Also, several other countries from the region and Europe are participating in the quality of observers.
The exercise is being conveyed closely by the directors of counterparts agencies and senior officials from participating states. Emergency Management Agency Executive Director, Mr. Genc Metaj, has praised the professional commitment of Kosovo team members, as well as stressing the strategic importance of Kosovo's participation in these exercises for increasing operational capacities and exchanging experiences with partner countries.
