The Assembly is constitutionalised, the election of the chief parliament fails everything that happened at Saturday's session

The head of the session, Avni Dehari, said that during consultative meetings between political parties, reconciliation had been reached to approve the Commission's report on verifying mandates with unanimous votes. The 120 MPs voted for the report to be drafted by the previous composition of the Commission, which enabled the formal oath of new parliamentary composition.

One of the key points of discussion on the commission was the request of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) for individual resignations by ministers who have also been elected as deputies. Chairman PDK, Memli Krasniqi, said this demand was included in the processerbal and that it had paved the way for consensus, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.

On the other hand, incumbent Finance Minister Iron Murati stated that no change had been made, accusing the opposition of “change of words due to fears of losing the” mandates.

Immediately after MPs took oath, the Vetevendosje Movement proposed Haxhiun Albulen For the post of Speaker of the Parliament.

But in both votes, Haxhiu did not get the necessary majority: initially 57 votes per, 20 against and 3 abstentions, and in the second attempt at 57, 19 against and 3 abstentions.

The Social Democrat Initiative and two deputies of non-Serb minorities abstained. As a result, the session was interrupted for 48 hours until Monday at 1500.

Civil society estimated that failure to elect the chief parliament is the result of a lack of will for political compromise.

They stressed that the burden to secure a solution falls on Vetevendosje Movement as the biggest subject in the Assembly.

Political Reactions

On the other hand, the head of PDK, Memli Krasniqi, said that although the proposal for the post belongs to the party with mostly mandates, no one is obliged to vote on it.

The Social Democrat Initiative, through President Fatmir Limaj, said that with the constitution, the way for institution formation has been opened and that the remainder is expected to be closed very soon.

In another media statement, the Democratic Party of Kosovo expressed readiness to assume responsibility for forming the government with Bedri Hamza as the candidate for prime minister.
