European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, at the conclusion of the summit with European leaders, described the meeting as a “good and sincere implementation”.
She says they discussed the need for comprehensive security guarantees, including putting Ukraine in a strong position and ensuring that it has the means to “strengthening and protecting” itself.
It ranges from economic survival to military sustainability, says Von der Leyen.
“We need to have a defence increase, we really need to grow massively”, she said, thus adding that a clear plan is needed from the European Union and a common European approach, Euronews reports
It is now of great importance to increase spending, it is important that we prepare for the worst,” says.
The European Commission chief also sends a message to US President Donald Trump, saying: “We are ready with you to defend democracy, protect the principle that there is a legal state that you cannot invade your neighbour or change borders by force. It is in our common interest that we prevent future wars,” she adds.
