A group of American writers has indicted Meta Company for violating copyright law.
The indictment has been filed for the use of what is called “shadow library”, LibGen, for development of software for artificial intelligence “Light 3”
The Euro-Atlantic paper “” published a search tool for LibGen database last week, as court documents submitted earlier this year in the case of American comic Sarah Silverman and other authors against Meta had become public.
Meta is accused of violating copyright laws using LibGen, which operates anonymously and that, according to reports, contains millions of copies of pirates of books, articles from magazines and other materials for the development of its software for artificial intelligence, reports Sky News.
In earlier court documents, Silverman lawyers and other authors indicated that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was supposed to have approved the use of LibGen's data set, despite several employees' concerns.
Meta has denied that claim and said the case should be dismissed.
In a legal document handed down earlier this week, the technology company said it has not violated copyright law by taking books from some parts of LibGen to train the artificial intelligence system Lama 3, claiming it has “used material fairly” and that Lamba 3 does not reproduce the author's work./Periscopi/
