Global sales of electric vehicles in January reached 1.3 million vehicles, 18% more than the same month in 2024, the Rho Moto Institute of Electric Auto Research has revealed. Despite the increase, the decline compared to last December was 35%.

In January, sales of electric vehicles in the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the United Kingdom rose by 21% year-on-year to 0.05 million vehicles, while in the United States and Canada increased by 22% to 0.13 million vehicles.

China experienced relatively milder growth, with electricity sales at 12% in January 2025 compared to January 2024. This was largely due to the fact that the first two months of the year are usually less active on the commercial side of China because of the Chinese New Year's celebrations.
