Arizona's former General Prosecutor, Mark Brnovich, has been appointed ambassador of the United States to Serbia. The decision was announced by President Donald Trump on Friday, who named Branovichin as devoted representatives of American values and a strong lawyer for freedom, in a writing on the social network “Social @x1>.

Brnovich has a long career in the field of justice and politics. He served as Arizona General Prosecutor for Two Terms from 2015 to 2023, and has had significant role in law enforcement and consumer protection, Koha reports Periscope.

Born from the former Yugoslavia, Brnovich has family roots in Montenegro and Croatia, while his parents have Serbs. He studied political sciences at Arizona State University and completed legal studies at the University of San Diego. In addition to his legal career, he also served at the National Guard of the United States Army.

Brnovich has been an active figure in American politics, trying to secure the republican nomination for the Senate in the 2022 elections, but without success. After completing his term as prosecutor, he joined a prominent legal company.

In his new post as ambassador to Serbia, Brnovich will replace Christopher Hill while expected to have a key role in US-Serbia relations, especially in diplomatic and political issues related to the Balkan region.

Brnovich is married to Susan Branovichin, federal judge of the United States District Court for the Arizona District. They have two girls together. He is an active member of the Serbian Orthodox community in Phoenix.
