The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje, Svetozar Antovik, and the leader of the Aleksandar Stankov Institute of Legal Medicine, have announced today that following the tragic event in Kocan, 59 autopsys and identities of the dead have been carried out in a very short time.
As highlighted at the media conference, six teams were formed, composed of forensic experts, pathologists and MPB teams.
All victims were found to have died of violent asphyxia, caused directly by fire. All autopsy reports are expected to be completed by the end of March. The clothing and all the items found at the dead are located at the Institute and will be passed to the Prosecutor”, told at the conference.
According to Stankov, immediately after receiving information on fire, all employees of the Institute have arrived at their jobs in just one hour and plan for appropriate actions has been drafted.
The target was the quick and qualitative completion of autopsys that began on the evening of March 16th and ended on the morning of March 18th, as well as to ensure accurate identification”, Stankov stressed.
He and the faculty dean expressed condolences to the deceased's family and wished quick healing to the injured in the hospital./Periscopi/
