At a press conference following a conversation with Donald Trump, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine must be part of any negotiations to end the war. He explained that NATO membership was not the subject of discussion with the American president, but stressed that he is aware of the American stance that Ukraine is not welcome in the military alliance at the moment.
“Today is important that everything does not go according to Putin's plan, which wants to hold negotiations bilaterally with the US”, Zelenskyy said, Euronews reported.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching a peace agreement. Trump declared on Wednesday, after talking to Putin, that it was <x0 non-practice” for Ukraine to become a NATO member and that it was impossible to restore all territories occupied by Russia.
Trump reacted again this Thursday, via a post on his Social Truth platform. He said he had excellent “talks with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky and that he was optimistic about the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine.
