US President Donald Trump's envoy, Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has confirmed that he will attend the Security Conference in Munich, held next week, where he will talk about Trump's intention to end the war in Ukraine.

Kellogg said I look forward to speaking at the annual security conference and discuss “Trump's goal of ending the bloody and costly war in Ukraine”. He wrote on X that he plans to meet with the “allates of America who are willing to work with us”.

Since Kellogg announced he will speak at this conference, which will be held from 14 February to 16 February, there has been speculation that he will reveal Trump's plan for ending the war. Bloomberg news agency on 5 February cited unidentified sources who said Kellogg would present the plan during the conference.

Sources did not provide further information on the plan, how detailed it will be, or in what format it will appear.

The White House Media Office did not respond to Radio Free Europe's request for comment.

Kellog said last week that Trump had a “sold” strategy to end the war in Ukraine within months. These statements were made as the talks and negotiations in the background are under way to find a way to end the Russian occupation of Ukraine that started almost three years ago.

He and other officials have hinted the plan has to do with what Trump allies call “peace through force”. The plan includes the potential freezing of the conflict and leaving territories in the Russian invasion in a vague “s”>>. The plan also includes providing security guarantees for Ukraine, but does not specify what guarantees are involved.

On February 5th, the Kremlin announced the intensifying of contacts with the US in terms of efforts to reach a solution to war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is ready to negotiate with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to hold talks with him after arguing that the Ukrainian leader's presidential mandate was completed last year.

Ukraine has been unable to organise elections because it has been in a state of war since the invasion began.

According to Kellogg, the US is considering the possibility of pressure not only on Moscow, but also on Kiev, for the parties to land at the negotiating table. On February 2nd, he warned that both sides should make concessions if they hope to negotiate a solution to the war.

Zelensky “has hinted that it will ease its stance”, Kellogg said on February 1st. “and Putin will also have to ease his” position. Trump has insisted that he wants to end the war soon and has said he will meet Putin as soon as possible.

During an address Wednesday evening, Zelensky said Ukraine “has significantly intensified” contacts with the Trump administration, adding that there are very important “contacts with other partners”.

Meanwhile, during an interview published on YouTube on 4 February Zelensky said it would be hired for direct talks with Putin, but the US and the European Union would have to participate.

If people believe that we should move on the diplomatic road, and I believe we are ready to move on the diplomatic road, that should be the US, Europe, Ukraine and Russia”.

Asked in an interview with British journalist Pierre Morgan, how he would be known to sit in front of Putin on a negotiating table, Zelensky said: “If it's the only way to bring peace to Ukrainian citizens and not to lose people, of course we would go”.

He added that “I won't be kind to him, I consider him an enemy. To be honest, I think he also considers me an enemy”.

The German government said 5 February that US Vice President J. D Vance will attend the Munich Security Conference. Conference organisers also confirmed the participation of the number two US. / REL/
