Speaking exclusively of Euronews Albania, on the Balkan Talks show, Ukrainian MP Olexey Goncharenko commented on the call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump regarding peace talks on the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He stressed that Ukraine could not become “Kurban” of the great powers negotiations, and warned of the American administration's lack of interest in Europe.
However, Goncharenko expressed his conviction that regardless of all and how the ongoing situations according to him will eventually be “set”bet”.
It wasn't the American Marines who faced Russia three years ago. It wasn't the ones who came here, it was the Ukrainians. No one will decide on our behalf. We are Ukrainian and we understand that we cannot depend entirely on negotiations. On the other hand, we cannot be required for offerings in someone else's agreements,” he said.
Goncharenko also stressed that Putin does not want the war to stop and continues to be convinced that Ukraine has no resistance force.
I can't explain anything about Putin, but he wants the war to continue. He doesn't believe in Ukrainian resistance and thinks there's someone big in the world who can decide anything. The question is: Can we live in such a world?
Regarding the foreign policy of the new US administration, he expressed concern about access to Europe:
“Feelings are mixed. It is difficult to say what the new American administration intends, but it seems that it is not very interested in Europe. This contains a threat, a challenge and a problem. Ukraine has its importance, and we need the United States, as the US needs Europe if it wants to remain at the top of world policy. ”
As for territories occupied by Russia, the Ukrainian MP believes they will never be part of Russia in the eyes of the local population.
The overarching <x0). Sooner or later, the Russian Empire will collapse, as happened 100 years ago and 30 years ago with the Soviet Union. ”
As for NATO's importance, Goncharenko stressed the need for a united European army and strengthening Ukraine's defence.
“Europe cannot become a strong player without a powerful army. Divided armies cannot be compared to American, Russian or Chinese. But if Europe wants to, it can create the most powerful army in the world, uniting technology with the courage of Ukrainian soldiers. ”
He also commented on Ukraine's NATO membership potential, stressing:
“has caught up in showing that the US currently does not want Ukraine in NATO. But I believe membership in Ukraine would be a positive step. If I were one of the NATO leaders, I would very much like the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be part of the alliance, not outside of it. ”
