One mother, 37, and her two-year-old daughter have died from injuries sustained in Thursday's car attack in the German town of Munich, police say.
At least 37 people were injured after a car crashed into a mob at a union rally.
The driver was a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seekers, police said, identified in local media as Farhad N. He was arrested at the scene, and prosecutors say he has admitted to carrying out the attack. He seemed to have a religious motive, officials said.
The mother and child were among those sent to the hospital with serious injuries after the attack.
“Unfortunately, we must confirm today the death of 2-year-old child and her 37-year-old mother”, police spokesman Ludwig Wildinger told the AFP news agency on Saturday.
The car crash has turned security issues into focus a week before holding federal elections in Germany.
A series of attacks were carried out in Munich by immigrants, where two of the suspected attackers have come from Afghanistan.
The attack also occurred on the eve of the Munich Security Conference, which began Friday.
Upon arriving in the city on Friday, US Vice President JD Vance expressed his condolences to the victims in the attack, the BBC writes.
