In Snapchat, users will see a warning to try their age, through certain methods, including taking a cell phone for software to assess age.
But some users say they have found ways to avoid these app checks, such as. using images of older people.
The company's corporate affairs director, Luc Delaney, tells the BBC that verification is a “ongoing fight” for firms in this business.
He says K-ID software will constantly improve over time, while new examples of how people try to avoid the system arise.
