Apple has updated App Store's rules regarding the use of artificial intelligence, demanding that developers get clear consent from users before transferring personal data to the AI systems of third parties.
According to the company, developers should clearly specify in which and where the data will be shared, including those used by artificial intelligence of foreign companies. All apps should receive direct approval of users before activating such a function.
Up-to-date regulation, part of the “Application Review Directions”, is Apple's first official instruction that directly treats AI of the third parties. In the document, the company warns that apps will be rejected if their behaviour “crosses the” limit, adding that this assessment remains subjective: “I will understand when I see”, the guide says.
Update marks a new approach to Apple's policy of artificial intelligence. Under the direction of the CEO Tim Cook, the company has been cautious and often slow in adopting the advanced AI features, even preferring the term “automatic lesson” instead of “artificial intelligence”. /Periscope/
