Meta will remove about 600 employees from its Artificial Intelligence unit, as part of a restructuring intended to simplify management levels and increase efficiency.
According to CNBC, the announcement was made by Chief of Artificial Intelligence Alexandr Wang, who joined the company in June after the 14.3 billion-euro Meta investment in Scale AI.
The cuts will affect important units such as AI Infrastructure and FAIR.
The affected workers will receive 16 weeks' pay, plus two weeks per year of work.
The decision comes after CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed disappointment with Meta's progress in AI after <x0) cold reactions” to the Lima 4 models.
Meanwhile, the company is investing billions in new projects, including the construction of a giant database in Louisiana. /Periscopi/
