New York officials have set up a fee for cars entering the center of the city, the first such move in any city in the United States.
Car drivers will pay $9 a day, and the fee will determine depending on driving and driving schedules.
The entrance will be paid in the central park district, and the lot so visited by tourists, around the Empire State building, near the Square Times, and the financial district Wall Street.
This scheme aims to reduce major traffic problems in New York and raise billions of dollars for the public transportation network, although it has been sharply criticised by New York residents, including American President-elect Donald Trump, who has vowed to end this scheme when he officially assumes power this month.
Major objections have included taxi companies.
Last year, New York City has been declared the city with the most busy urban area for the second year in a row.
