Mellon, one of former President Donald Trump's main supporters in Europe, has repeatedly shown her commitment to building bridges of co-operation between the Trump administration and the European Union. She was one of the world leaders who attended Trump's inauguration ceremony as president of the United States, thus testifying and her close ties with him.
Italian Prime Minister and former President Trump dined recently at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, where Trump praised Melon's role in Europe.
This Melon stance comes at a time when US-EU relations face complex challenges, including global security issues, economy and climate. Its positioning as a bridge could affect political dynamics between the two continents, making Italy a key actor in transatlantic dialogue. /euronews
