Jasharaj: I've never seen achievements. Kurti Government turned it against any promise.

“Help as a brother, help us get out of the crisis as a brother, ami 100 euros”, was a statement that two years ago Prime Minister Albin Kurti brought to the public from the conversation with SBASK Chairman Nundman Jasharight, for the request he represented this union with other unions, had made to Kurti [...]

So, after Kurt's statement, you had started a kind of lynching campaign making it the target of criticism and various attacks that came mainly from supporters of power.

The demand for additions of 100 euros, coming from Jasharaj but other unionists, was made as they said, and as a way to cope with inflation that had hit Kosovo.

Now that we are at the end of the government mandate of Vetevendosje Movement, the Express newspaper has contacted Nundman Jasharaj to get a comment from the latter about developments during these four years between this union and the government.

The SBASK chairman made the difference between Kurt and the other former prime ministers before him, stressing that as long as there have been differences with others, dialogue has always existed, which has not been faced by Kurti government, for everyone's four-year rule, Jasharaj said it has been difficult years.

For a long time as SBASK chairman and making tests and returning memories to the 12 years I am as chairman I have had the chance to communicate with all Albanian prime ministers in the post-war years. And to tell you the truth, even though we've had good days with them, they've never closed the doors of dialogue, and they've been trying to keep the other side, so they won't hurt him and hurt him, and they've done what they could, within budgetary means. As far as Prime Minister Kurti's four years are concerned and I say it was these four very difficult years, and if we get the promises he made, both for Kosovo and for access to dialogue and trade unions, I can say that none of the promises made to the education system or for trade unions have been made, he said.

In his statement, Jasharaj also highlighted the greatest frustrations that have come from this governing composition, particularly emphasising Finance Minister Iron Murati and Education Minister Arberi Nagavci.

For the latter, Nagavcin so é, who in an illustration of the moment after a dinner that Kurti had developed with Nobel writer Orhan Pamuk, this last one had known the name CHAlia had also been called for resignations for what we mentioned earlier, which was lynching to Yashaw.

And what has disappointed us for many years is the very wrong approach of Prime Minister Kurti, and then even Minister Murati, who is minister of finance, transfers but also of Labour and Social Goods, but we are also disappointed with Prime Minister Nagavci who in these four years has never felt like minister to protect the education workers and to proclaim at the meeting their legitimate demands, but otherwise she has been trying to silence her own voice (4)1...

On the other hand, the SBASK chairman has said that dissatisfaction with the government has reached their peak, when wages are affected, claiming the increases have been very small.

So I have not seen any achievements, I have not seen a step taken to fulfill even a legitimate requirement of our membership. And the peak of this came with salaries, because in 2024 salaries in the pre-university education system have been raised only 28 euros, while in Albania and other countries there have been marked increases of hundreds of euros, and they have done this to protect the salaries they had from inflation and otherwise preserve their purchasing power. So with an increase of 28 euros, it was very disappointing and disappointing that created even new tensions that was also the statement of Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Murati that in the coming January would become a co- regardless of 0.5 change, this change that is even not legal, this is bringing about a 55-euro hike, which has been still appreciated by education workers, because we have been far removed from the salaries of our colleagues in Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and not to talk about the states of Europe”, he said.

He has also mentioned problems with textbooks and school supplies.

There's a lot of talk about digitizing schools something that hasn't happened and those schools that have Internet can't be commended because the internet is just in the school principal, not in all school spaces, and that creates additional problems. There's been a lot of talk about helping and supporting education workers and schools, but unfortunately, this school year is also running battles on foam and soles. And normally none of us feel good when we're doing bad on international tests, but also in all-out competitions, and that's why the conditions in schools work, with the conditions of the past century. The other evil happened in the last two years with textbooks because before the distribution was done after the agreement with the editors who did it, was done in the municipality and then in schools, and since early September the texts were in schools, and the media and citizens all saw that this year and last year, a month and two months went by without providing all students with texties:x1>, he said.

In the end, Jasharaj, has assessed as a disaster the fact that, as he said, is being punished by all those who have worked for the educational system even the 1990s.

“Where are the demands promised, where are we going to have much better pay levels, we will have union support, so all promises, government Kurti turned them on the opposite. It will even be remembered at the moment when education workers from the 1990s who were accepted these years as giving contributions, with the government's changes to Kurti, have been affected. And the disaster is that all those who worked for the education system and the Republic of Kosovo are now being punished”, it is finished.

In this regard, Express has also contacted an expert on education issues, Youth Qehaja

The same has stated among other things that dialogue between the Government and the Union should not be questioned, and that the union's representation of teachers is guaranteed by law.

“SBASK is a social partner of the Government, which represents the interests of teachers, and this representation is guaranteed by constitution and law how many of their union reactions are reasonable or not this is a debate on its own, but dialogue in order to answer the demands of the teaching community should not be questioned”, he said.

As for the problem set up by Jasharaj for textbooks, Qehaja said a analysis should be done for the same reason among distribution models.

“Texting texting as direct subvention to students through parents is more than the usual of previous decades but which essentially achieves the same goal of distributing textbooks to all students. I would very much like to have a feasibility analysis that compares us to models and gives empirical answers to the ideal model that should follow”, he added.

Finally, Qehaja has also been declared for reforms required in education, which he indicated must reach students in class, otherwise cannot be recognised as a change.

“Reforms in education generally continue to be introduced as altered legislation and developed strategic documents not as reform directly affecting teaching and learning, and until the change does not go to the student in class, then we can't even present a change and expect to be”, he declared for Express.

Otherwise, during these four years of mandate, the government led by Albin Kurti has been highly criticised for the education situation in Kosovo.

Poor results in international testing, poor investments realised by what was promised, and among other things, teachers' strikes and school textbooks are some of the points under which Kurti Government has been criticised.
