Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has again appealed to the United States and other allies “to quickly implement” arms and other supplies to help Ukraine in the fight against Russia-led invasion.
In a video message published in the late hours of September 14th, he said that “is of critical importance that all states, separately the US, immediately implement agreements reached with Ukraine”.
“The impact must be felt on front”, Zelensky said. Any delay of the military package has negative consequences on the front. Every delivery in time, the quick delivery has a positive impact”.
Major efforts to help Ukraine militarily continue as NATO faces calls from several member states to supply Kiev with more advanced weapons.
Kiev also repeatedly says it needs to carry out attacks within Russian territory with long-range weapons in order to protect itself from the invading Russian forces. This Ukrainian argument is supported by several NATO officials.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met at the White House on 13 September with US President Joe Biden to discuss whether Ukraine's request to use long-range action against limits in Russia should be approved.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on September 14th that Biden “is determined to use the four months remaining mandate to put Ukraine in the best possible position in order to triumph”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said earlier in the week that the West would be “in the war with Russia if it allowed Ukraine to attack long-range missiles produced in the West, Medvedev said on September 14th that Russia could destroy the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, with non-reviable weapons if the West lifts its restrictions.
Medvedev, now serving as head of Ukraine Security Council, also said Russia could use Nuclear weapon. /rel
