The chief of diplomacy in Serbia, Marko Djuric, said they are willing to co-operate with the United States of America for the planned investment investigations in Belgrade of Jared Kouchner, the son-in-law of former US president Donald Trump.

In an interview for Voice of America, Djuric responded negatively to the question of whether he, while ambassador to Washington, had knowledge of the investigation that the US Congress Senate Finance Commission is developing on the activities of former US President Donald Trump's groom company.

While Albania, where Kouchner has also planned investments, has so far not reacted to an investigation that has begun the US Senate's Financial Committee on them.

The potential investments in Albania and Serbia of the firm Affinity, owned by Kouchner, have become part of an investigation that American Senator Ron Wyden has launched on the possible political impacts of foreign governments on the Trump family.

Wyden, chairman of the Committee for Finance in the U.S. Senate, has launched an official letter on September 24th to Kouchner's company, Affinity Partners, through which he has requested information about these investments.

In this letter, it raises doubts about the details of potential investments in the two states and if this gives foreign governments “potential control with the possibility of forcing the future US president's family to invest”.

Donald Trump, currently nominated by the Republicans for US president in the November elections.

In the past administration of Trump, Kouchner had the role of senior presidential adviser.

The Committee for Finance in the U.S. Senate deals with tax and income issues in general, and has authority to investigate, review and assess the existing laws and agencies that observe them.

Kouchner, who founded his company in 2021, made public in March of this year, investment plans in Albania and Serbia, both of which were worth over $1 billion.

While in Serbia plans have been concreteised with government agreements with his firm, they have still remained “an expression of interest” for investment in Albania.

The senator's new letter is the continuation of an investigation launched in June.

Among other things, the senator doubts the fact that, reportedly, Kouchner's firm is fully funded by foreign and majority investors by a government fund of Saudi Arabia, while other funds include those from the governments of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates among others.

According to the letter, these funds are paid gradually and are earmarked to reach a total of $3 billion by 2026.

However, the senator adds that Kouchner's company still “has not generated any profit for its investors”.

In his letter, the chairman of the Committee also expresses concern about the level of influence these foreign governments may have on the US presidential candidate family, Donald Trump, if he is elected president again.

This creates a situation where the governments of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will have a significant impact on the Trump family if they threaten to attract their investments and stop paying millions of dollars in payments to Kouchner and, at the same time, Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump<1>, says in the letter.

In order to investigate further, the senator has asked the Affinity company detailed data on funds and investment plans, and for these questions has asked for answers until 9 October.

Radio Free Europe has so far failed to receive a comment from Kouchner company on the issue.

In a statement to the New York Times, Affinity called Wyden's letter a political move, adding that the firm had followed all federal laws and ethical regulations. REL
