Trump accuses Zelensky: Takes billions of dollars in aid, but he's refusing peace deal

The former US president and Republican candidate for presidential elections, Donald Trump, has sharply criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, charging that he is benefiting billions of dollars from US aid without taking steps to reach an agreement to end the Russian occupation in Ukraine. These statements were made during an election rally in North Carolina while the Ukrainian leader was attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to Trump, Ukraine should have made concessions to Russia before the full invasion of Moscow in February 2022.
Whatever the deal was meant to be the worst one, he said.
Trump suggested a bad deal would have avoided the destructions and victims currently experiencing Ukraine.
Trump has also repeated his renowned thesis, that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine if he were still president and that, if elected again, he would have ended the war in record time. However, he has not provided concrete details about how he would achieve that goal, causing criticism that practical solutions are lacking.
Trump's comments seem to be a response to a Zelensky interview for the magazine “New Yorker”, where the latter expressed doubts about Trump's ability to stop the war, saying the former president “does not really know how to stop the war, even if he thinks he knows”.
In the past, Russia and Ukraine held several negotiations, but Kiev rejected Moscow's demands, which included recognition of the Crimea annexation and other separatist-controlled territories.
Zelensky's visit to Washington on 26 September, meanwhile, is expected to include meetings with President Joe Biden, who will announce new aid to Ukraine, reflecting the continuation of US strong support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
The former U.S. president declared that the Ukrainian leader is in the United States and accused him of committing a few minor and evil defamatory “against him, referring to himself as your preferred president”. Trump described Ukraine as a destroyed country except Kiev, and raised doubts about Ukraine's ability to negotiate an agreement to end the war.
What deal can we make? Ukraine is destroyed. People are dead. The place is in ruins”, Trump said.
In the meantime, Zelensky has expressed its intention to introduce the president, Joe Biden, a war victory plan that will reportedly include the demand for the use of long-range weapons the United States is supplying to Ukraine.
Initial reports suggested that a meeting between Trump and Zelensky could take place in New York, but according to American media sources, this meeting is expected to be cancelled. /Telegraphy/
