Today, it has been reported on the findings of the National Audition Office in the Kosovo Hospital and University Service, which is said to have long waiting lists, lack of anesthetics and orthopedic materials, and the Orthodox Clinic faces a lack of eye lens.
Sa The SKUK has come up with a reaction to these news reports, where the report said it included five years old, from 2019 to 2023, and that the found by the ZKA have not included positive changes that occurred in 2024.
The KKUK management reportedly has undertaken measures for infrastructure improvements, renewing spaces in several QKUK clinics, and general hospitals, as well as intermitting measures to supply drugs.
Full response:
Regarding the performance report published by the National Audition Office, published in the media, the Hospital Service and the University Clinic of Kosovo ( Sa SKUK), initially explains that the report included the 5-year period, from 2019 to 2023, and that no positive changes during the year 2024 were included in the SHSKUK.
We want to clarify the opinion that during the year 2023, and early 2024, the SSKUK Steering Board has visited and analysed the work of each organisational unit at the SHSKUK.
After these meetings, detailed decisions and conclusions have been made that include recommendations for taking measures aimed at establishing the institution's performance.
The SKKUK management has undertaken measures for infrastructure improvements, renewed spaces in several QKUK clinics, and general hospitals.
Also, measures have been taken for equipment insurance and supplies with drugs and saving materials.
As far as infrastructure has been concerned, there has been renovation of the Emergency Clinic, the Medical Service of Cardiology, the Oncology Clinic, the Nuclear Medicine Clinic, Urology Clinic, the Gynecology Clinic, but also the surgical operating block, which already has modern conditions and standards.
The measures have also been undertaken for the best drug supply, it should be noted that regular contracts have been entered for articles that have been lacking for years, including medicines and extenuating materials mentioned in the report, which are now in sufficient quantities, according to the demands of clinics and hospitals, anesthetics and cystatics and the cytostatics and therapy needed for the Oncology Clinic, which already own over 90% of them.
For the first time, measures have also been taken in terms of training and professional staff advancements, where, in collaboration with the Oda of Doctors, a Memorandum of Co-operation has been signed, providing financial support for specific medical training in various medical profiles.
It should be stressed that this year it has been achieved to operate the Invasive Cardiology Service at Prizren Hospital for the first time.
The SSKUK Board of Directors and Management has taken priority over the issue of waiting lists for patients, which this year has a reduction, especially in clinics referred to in performance reports, but is still working.
Also, SSKKUK has managed to supply prosthesis for Orthopedic, eye clinic lens.
In this direction, in co-ordination with the General Hospital, cases of waiting lists for prosthesis and eye operations are also being directed to the General Hospital, which will evidently affect waiting lists.
As for the lack of anesthesiologists, a reorganization of them has been made, competitions have been opened constantly as they have performed medical specialization in the field, while as soon as they complete their specialization, other doctors will be employed.
So this year it's been worked on and done intensively by SHSKUK, so that the performance of current staff and services in general will be elevated, changes are obvious, but continue to work further.
