Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, has said that Kosovo could save up to 55m euros a year by joining the Unic Pay Market in Euro (SEPA).
From Kosovo's membership in SEPA, Rohde has said it benefits the diaspora, acceptance of remittances, but also trade partners, adding that the country's economy is thus strengthened.
The achievement of this requires more economic integration with the region and the European Union”, Rohde wrote.
Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi has declared that Kosovo is continuing intensively to work for membership in SEPA.
He underlined the work being carried out in terms of adopting three necessary laws such as the law on banks, the law on payment services, and the law on preventing money laundering and fighting terrorism financing.
“also, the deputy prime minister stressed that the Kosovo Central Bank has also drafted 20 regulations linking with SEPA, which are expected to pass for approval following the adoption of these laws in the Republic Assembly. The deputy prime minister said advancing towards SEPA integration is an important step further in terms of even connecting with European Union standards and membership in the European family”, the ZKM report said.
