The Government Commission for Missing Persons has announced that during this week in the Netherlands, in a co-organisation with the International Commission on Missing Persons has been held the Regional Group meeting for Missing Persons.
According to the Government Commission for Missing Persons, this group functions according to the Regional Framework Plan in the application of the Declaration of Persons Missing From the London Summit in 2018, under the Berlin Process.
It becomes known that, along with discussions and preparations for the upcoming meeting under the Berlin Process, under the preliminary request of the head of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Andy Hoti, participants have also presented regional engagement in fulfilling the goals of the Framework Plan, with emphasis, address and work on the ground.
International Commission for Missing Persons Director Kathryn Bomberger stressed that the Regional Group's work is essential to providing answers to those still missing.
This case has to do with ensuring justice for the families of the missing, knowing the suffering they have experienced, providing accountability and restoring dignity for the victims, and that resolving these cases is not only a technical process, but is a moral and legal obligation”, Bomber said.
While the leader of the Government Commission's unit for Missing Persons, Anti-Crime Gara, said Kosovo remains an example for dealing with and addressing the issue of missing persons, which according to him is the open plague of Kosovo society.
Our “State, the Government Commission of the Republic of Kosovo, remains an example for the handling and addressing of this issue, the open wounds of our society and the most priority topic of all agendas. Since we have joined this initiative, concretely with the agreements in 2018, we have supported and continued to support such initiatives with the aim of intensifying regional co-operation, but always with our consistent demands that this co-operation be shown more effectively and bring answers to family members who continue to live with the pain and anxiety of waiting”, he said.
On the other hand, Gara said Kosovo needs to know the truth even for the thousand and 595 missing persons from the war in Kosovo.
