MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Rashit Qalaj, says the prime minister's silence over the Ibri Bridge issue is simply a silence imposed by the international factor.

Qalaj says Kurti's issue of Ibri Bridge is being used for popularism and electoral benefits.

The bridge's “issue is a matter which is quite sensitive and I agree it is being used by Kosovo's prime minister for population and electoral issues. While the question of his silence in relation to the opening of the bridge or not, it is simply a silence imposed by the factor
International. You have seen the KFOR forces demonstration on the bridge a few days ago, even though they called it an exercise, but soldiers and police exercises are kept mainly in KFOR's environments and police facilities in this case, they don't hold in the centre of the city in a sensitive object, but they have a mission behind them to prevent any government initiative for opening the” bridge, he said.

On the other hand, it is good for the bridge to open, as it needs people to move freely to any part of Kosovo.

It would have been good for the bridge to open, because we need people to move freely in every part of Kosovo, even in that part. But always given the security issue and our relations are mutual with our partners, we have to be careful, but it is legitimate for the bridge to open”, Qalaj concluded to Blic newspaper.
