Police find 100 narcotic plants planted in a remote mountain area in the Gjakova municipality

Kosovo police in a remote mountainous area in the Gjakova municipality have located a site where about 100 suspected narcotic plants of the type sativa range of 1 to 2.5m.

Material tests such as narcotic plant samples and other evidence have been obtained on evidence after the trial has been completed.

Police have said the area is near the border and have communicated with the Border and Order Police of the Republic of Albania and in co-ordination with them has become the security of the area's external perimeter at the Kosovo/ Albania by air and land.

Regarding the case, the Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjakova has been communicated, and the case has opened that is subject to relevant investigative procedures.

Kosovo police, respectively, from DDRPK “West” in Gjakova, during implementation of an operational plan, following operational and investigative work, dated 04.09.2024, in a remote mountain area in the Gjakova municipality, have located a country suspected of growing narcotic plants.

Regarding the police operation, the specialised border units, along with the Antidroga Unit, have gone to the suspected location and at the site have found a parcel, in which some 100 suspected narcotic plants (kind of sativa cannabis) were planted between 1 and 2.5m long.

At the scene by relevant police units, material evidence has been obtained, such as narcotic plant samples and other evidence, where, after collecting evidence, the extermination of narcotic plants at the scene has been done.

Since the area is located near the border, border and order police of the Republic of Albania have also been contacted and the security of the area's external perimeter at the Kosovo/ Albania by air and land.

Regarding the case, the Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjakova has been communicated, and the case has opened that is subject to relevant investigative procedures.
