NATO: Urgent for Banjska responsibilities to be brought to justice, Serbia to help in full accountability

KFOR Commander Major General Ozkan Ulutash, at the end of his mandate, has remained in Brussels, on his own at NATO headquarters, where he says to have informed ambassadors of all NATO allies as well as partners contributing troops to the KFOR mission.
Ulutash said he also met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Boris Ruge, where a year after the Banjska attacks, it is urgent to bring the responsible for the attack on justice.
“NATO expects Serbia to help ensure full accountability. KFOR aims to ensure that such attacks are not repeated. It is important that both sides refrain from uncoordinated actions that could provoke tensions, endanger security or endanger KFOR soldiers”.
“NATO continues to support EU facilitated dialogue as a framework to reach a long-term and sustainable solution that respects the rights of all communities”, NATO report said.
While KFOR's outgoing commander, Ulutash said that under his command KFOR has successfully preserved peace and security throughout Kosovo, in line with his UN mandate.
“Through a visible, flexible and adaptable attitude, we have prevented risks to renewed violence and quickly controlled situations that could lead to incidents or escalation. We have further reinforced the mission and continued our role as an impartial force, working with all communities to promote security, for all of”, Ulutas said.
Furthermore, Ulutash said KFOR has continued to provide safe and needed environment for diplomatic efforts to move forward.
