“I think the Kosovo government, probably not this, will have to deal with it because it is a major obstacle to Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic integration” has said Maliqi on Radio Free Europe's “show.
“Unfortunately, this government has created confidence in the opinion that we cannot fulfil the agreed obligations, even though it has accepted the Ohrid Agreement itself. However, anyone who comes to power after the February elections will have to deal with this issue whether Kurti's government, Kurti's coalition with a current opposition party or coalition” has praised Maliqi.
“will have to begin with implementing the part of the agreement dealing with forming the Serb majority municipalities' Association to eliminate the main obstacle to Kosovo's integration into international institutions. This means not only admission to the Council of Europe, but also the guarantee that Kosovo will be recognised by the five members of the European Union that do not now recognise”, he has added.
According to him, there is general consensus in Kosovo that the Serbian Communist Association is the last card Kosovo has to get a clear Euro-Atlantic perspective after independence in 2008.
Kosovo will not spend this last ticket without strong guarantees”, Maliqi has praised.
