Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca on Tuesday has met with new EU Office Chief in Kosovo Aivo Ora.
The meeting, as revealed through a communique for the media, focused on discussing current developments in the country and the region, the European agenda of Kosovo and progress in the reform process for European integration.
During the Konjufca meeting, it reportedly has “underlined that Kosovo has already met the criteria and is awaiting granting EU candidate country status”.
“He also thanked Ambassador Orav for his EU support of Kosovo, especially in the areas of rule of law, democratisation and strengthening of institutions”.
Kosovo applied for EU membership in December 2022.
Since that time to date, Kosovo's documentation for Union membership has not been reviewed.
Kosovo, currently, is the only European country that has applied for EU membership, but does not have candidate status for membership.
It is the only out of 10 states involved in the EU enlargement process without formal candidate status.
