NATO mission commander in Kosovo, KFOR, Oezkan Ulutash, has said that continuing the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue remains essential and that it is possible, but that according to him, requires courage and commitment on both sides.

So it has been expressed by NATO headquarters in Brussels, during his speech to complete the mandate as KFOR commander.

Ulutash has said dialogue is not simply political imperatives.

Despite their differences, all communities in Kosovo share the common hope for peaceful and prosperous future. Tensions still boil and distrust among communities impede progress. Political dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina continues to face obstacles. In this direction, NATO and KFOR fully support EU facilitated dialogue for sustainable resolution of pending issues. I am optimistic that with patience, perseverance, and constructive attitude from all sides, these obstacles can be overcome”, he added.

He has now called for communities in Kosovo to continue efforts for understanding and co-operation.

This experience has deepened my understanding of how critical co-operation and confidence in preserving peace in complex environments are. I call on all communities to continue efforts for understanding and co-operation. Continued political dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade remains essential and I firmly believe that it is possible. However, this requires genuine courage and devotion on both sides. This dialogue is not just a political necessity, but also moral for the sake of future generations”, he added.

The commander of the North Atlantic Alliance mission in Kosovo has now said they have prevented risks of creating situations that could lead to incidents or escalation. /Time
