Democratic League of Kosovo MP Avdullah Hoti has criticised the current government, saying it has failed to implement major economic projects and do not meet commitments in education and health.

In an interview for Kosova Prees, Hoti says Kurti Government actions have been slim and far away from any standard for improving conditions in key sectors. He also says that even projects that have been left in half by past governments have not moved forward.

The “is the weakest ever term in the country and these are not the opposition assessments, but can be verified on the ground in each of the sectors one by one, you see no promises have been fulfilled, not that no, but that actions have not been undertaken in the face of created situations that are behind the need for government intervention.

In promises, in an economic sense there is almost no major capital project that changes the economic situation in the country. Nor have projects that were left in half by past governments moved forward.

Promises in education and health have been the fraud of citizens and specific sectors. Now to see that the prime minister who goes and promotes certain halls within the Kosovo hospital service, while four years does not discuss health insurance, or to fix once and for all the supply of drugs from the essential list, or the delivery of some more specialized services within the KKUK, so that people do not need to get out. In the field of education is the same”, says Hoti.

Hoti said that per capita income has dropped by about 67 percent compared with previous years when it was about 74 percent.

In the past years we have at least been the last country for poverty in Europe, we've certainly been in the bottom of the ranking because of the legacy we have as an economy. But, what has happened in the last three years in particular on the World Bank data shows that we do not have an economic convergence of Kosovo in terms of per capita income with the average per capita income per capita of residents with the average per capita income with the EU countries, but that we have after a dyvergence, has gone further down the per capita income average in Kosovo compared to the region.

While other countries in the region, particularly Albania, but also Montenegro, other countries are moving much faster towards the EU average, we are going down, even towards the EU average and the average of Balkan countries. Once there was about 74 percent per capita income in the country as the average of Western Balkan countries, we have now dropped about 67 percent”, Hoti said.

While in terms of labour law, Hoti also criticises the lack of social dialogue and says this financial burden should be charged with the state budget.

“International needs are such that this financial burden should be charged to society, which is the state budget, but, also, four years in this part are not having a social dialogue, where businesses sit as business representatives, where unions sit as representatives of workers and the government, in order to dialogue these issues and find solutions”, Hoti said.

Hoti says Kosovo has turned into a country with security problems, citing EU sanctions and the lack of foreign investors.

It's not just 300 million values, that if it were just that, we could somehow replace them through budget and be covered. It is the economic and political effects that cause sanctions. We are the only country in Europe to be under EU sanctions because of the continued wrong actions of this government. The image that these sanctions lead to our partners, to foreign investors, is very negative.

It has been four years since we almost have no large serious foreign investor making investments in Kosovo. Kosovo has now turned from a country that has had development challenges, to Euro-Atlantic integration, to challenges of reforms in education, justice, health, so we have been seen by our allies, from the EU as a country that needs support to reform the specific sectors, to help economic development, now we have returned to a place we see with security problems, and that's the worst signal given in the international arena in the field of economics”, ends Ho. / KP/
