Haxhiu comments on the act of terrorist attack in Banjska: Serbia pressure to hand over criminals

Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has declared that she has welcomed the establishment of the indictment by the Kosovo Special Prosecutor against 24 indictees for the terrorist attack that took place on 24 September 2023 in the Zvecan Banjska. Haxhiu has said that they have consistently expressed their concern over not setting up the indictment to lead the terrorist. [...]

Haxhiu has said that they have consistently expressed their concern over failing to establish the indictment for leader of terrorist Milan Radojicic and his group.

“We have consistently expressed our concerns because there was no indictment set up for chief terrorist Milan Radojicic and other terrorists who have carried out the terrorist attack in Banjska, aimed at annexing our country's North, and given that Serbia has stood behind this attack, financed terrorists and trained them, considered the Special Prosecutor had to set up the case earlier, and, of course, as the prime minister has later said, Hadziu said.

According to her, it is extremely important that Serbia's “be pressured to hand over terrorist criminals”.

We've welcomed the indictment as justice minister we've addressed all the real-time responsibilities we've had in this case, but because of sensitivity we can't talk about them, now we're following this case very closely, as we as Government and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. What I consider is important that Serbia hand over chief terrorist Rajodocic and other terrorists who have carried out the terrorist attack in Banjska. And for our international partners to pressure him not to be asked by Kosovo to deliver evidence to Serbia, because you know that the only authority the institutions that have the responsibility for competence to investigate this case and to judge it is the Republic of Kosovo. So it is extremely important that the pressure be put to hand over criminals, terrorists, and on the other hand all that depends on us will be addressed in real time”, she stressed.

Asked whether there could be a similar attack again, Haxhiu has suggested that everything from Serbia can be expected, “given the hegemone objectives and territorial claims Serbia has on our country”.

Serbia's “We can expect everything from Serbia given that Serbia has not apologised for war crimes, which Serbia has touched on terrorists who have carried out this terrorist attack in Kosovo. In view of the hegemone goals and territorial claims Serbia has against our country, the incentives it received to the same criminal groups, which are not letting the Serb people live freely in the Republic of Kosovo. From Serbia everything is expected, we are vigilant, our security institutions also here have to assess the role Kosovo Police have had not only in the attack on Banjsk, but all the time that by their actions, with self-esteem, they have remained in their responsibilities as entities within the Kosovo Police, of course all other institutions that have made a contribution in this direction, both security, intelligence and justice<1> has been expressed to EO.

Nevertheless, she added, it is very important that Radojicic and his group face responsibility.

The name of chief terrorist Rajodovic and other terrorists is already under Interpol, and of course it is extremely important that this person be brought to account, now everything that has been within our police framework we have addressed, of course there will have to be justice for what happened in Banjska. We as the Government of Kosovo all that depends on us will address in real time, the responsibility for this is important, relevant and should happen as soon as we can, she added.

The minister stressed that, instead of Kosovo, Serbia had to be punished, it is sanctioned for the attack it has made by international partners.

Adding that behind the attack on Banjska, Serbia has stood with weapons, training and financing.

“Of course Serbia has had to be punished, sanctioned for the attack it has made, during the time when we have been in negotiations a state like Serbia has made the terrorist attack in Basnjca, so Serbia cannot hide that behind this attack. The very fact of public statements that have had but also the weapons, training and financing that have been done to this terrorist group testifies to this, of course, that our international partners have had to impose measures, even sanctions for Serbia, not for Kosovo that is constantly trying to extend sovereignty and to respect territorial integrity, whether to allow that integrity to be violated, but unfortunately, that measures have been imposed on Kosovo, and not on a country like Serbia that has carried out a terrorist attack in the Republic of Kosovo.

We have also said in our meetings with our international partners, but also publicly that we consider this to be unfair, because someone should be punished for the terrorist attack and destructive actions, for refusing to implement agreed agreements which we consistently refer to is Serbia, not Kosovo”, the minister added.

Otherwise, the Special Prosecutor has filed charges for 45 people, in charge of former Serbian List Vice President Milan Radojicic, for criminal work “The chairmanship of the terrorist work”, “Serious Anti-Reliance and Security of the Republic of Kosovo”, “Reforstation and financing in carrying out terrorism” and <6> Money laundering”
