The EU has “reliable information” that Iran has sent missiles to Russia

American media, quoting anonymous sources, reported last week that Washington believes Iran has transferred weapons to Russia, for use in Ukraine.
“We are aware of reliable information, provided by our allies for sending Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia”, said EU spokesman Peter Stano.
“We are further reviewing [informations] with our members, and if confirmed, these shipments would present a significant escalation of Iran's support for the illegal fight of Russia's aggression against Ukraine”, he said.
Stanoy added that the unanimous <x0 position of EU leaders has always been clear. The EU will respond quickly and in co-ordination with our international partners, including through new restrictive measures against Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has dismissed these charges.
The West for months has warned Tehran against sending missiles to Russia and the EU has already hit Iran with sanctions because it has supplied Moscow with fear.
“We strongly deny claims to Iran's role in exporting weapons to one side of the war”, said Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Canal.
When asked about American media reports, the Kremlin on Monday did not explicitly deny that Iran sent missiles.
The US has said that any delivery of this kind would be faced with a harsh “response” and could harm Tehran's efforts to improve reports with the West.
Facing severe Western sanctions, Moscow has been addressing Iran and North Korea for weapons supplies in order to continue its fight against Ukraine. /rel
