One such case was recently reported by a bank official in Prizren, who has reported the deposit of several bank notes and dozens of alleged fake metal coins from different customers recently.
The signal has learned that based on his denouncing, it's 50, 100, 2 euros, and 1 euro currency.
The deposited money has been confiscated in the quality of material evidence, and at the order of the State Prosecutor, the case has been initiated.
Otherwise, counterfeiting money is a criminal offence and sanctioned according to the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code. Anyone who produces counterfeit money in order to bring them into circulation is sentenced to prison for one to ten years.
